Panchakarma

Uncover A Deeper health

RETREAT INTO THE 5,000 YEAR-OLD AYURVEDIC PRACTICE OF PANCHAKARMA

ANCIENT MEDICINE FOR THE MODERN HUMAN

Panchakarma is the foremost and most complete purification therapy on the planet with over 5,000 years of clinical experience. It the sophisticated art + science of removing toxins from the body/mind through a complete and systematic protocol of detoxification.

Our ancient sage doctors advised that we undergo the practice of Panchakarma once or twice per year to promote health and longevity, as well as to target imbalanced conditions of the body and mind. This essential Ayurvedic practice beautifully promotes a long, graceful health span.

As a sister science to Yoga, Ayurvedic medicine is an important part of the path to Self-Realization.  Our 5-day personalized Panchakarma programs are designed to awaken and restore your mind and body’s innate healing intelligence, and to deeply nourish your inner Soma, the nectar of vitality & immortality.

One who is established in the Self, who has balanced doshas, balanced agni, properly formed dhatus (tissues), proper elimination of malas (wastes), well functioning bodily processes, and whose mind, soul, and sense are full of bliss, is called a healthy person.

WHY PANCHAKARMA?

While most cleanses work on removing toxins from only your GI tract, Panchakarma removes toxins from all the tissues of the body. Through a multifaceted series of treatments, Panchakarma reverse engineers the disease mechanism to get to the root of a condition. It is a truly radical therapy and a brilliant gift to humanity.

Essentially, our Panchakarma program supports the body’s self-repair mechanisms to help prevent the symptoms of systemic aging.

In Eastern medical philosophy, the entire cosmos is an interplay of the five elements—Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.  Ayurveda divides these into three elemental combinations, called doshas, that are present in everyone and everything:

Vata = air + space

Pitta = fire + water

Kapha = earth + water

In a healthy & balanced individual, the doshas exist within the body and mind in the right amount and in the right place.  A number of factors can disturb the doshas and affect the digestive fire, or agni.  These include:

  • Environment

  • Dietary and lifestyle habits

  • Aging

  • Seasonal changes

  • Technological overstimulation

  • Irregular circadian rhythms

  • Emotions & relationships

  • Improper use of intelligence and attachment to sensory objects

  • Changes of the Sun, Moon, and planets

  • The belief that we are separate from Divinity

The disturbance of doshas and a compromised agni cause a buildup of toxins, or ama, that further stress the body and mind and begin to cause the symptoms of disease.  Our lymphatic system is designed to remove ama from the body, but tends to become congested—especially during seasonal transitions. For this reason, Panchakarma is best performed during the fall and spring, but can still be a potent therapy at any time of the year when administered wisely.

Modern science has found that aging of the immune system—immune senescence—is a key underlying cause of symptoms of aging, including infectious diseases, cancer, chronic inflammatory disorders and autoimmune disorders.  Many of us have overburdened immune systems, due to a variety of factors, all of which prevent the body from entering rest & repair states.

Panchakarma removes ama from the body, detoxifies lymphatic fluid, supports the immune system, balances doshas and agni, nourishes all the tissues of the body, and rejuvenates body, mind and spirit.

Panchakarma is the essential annual health practice for the modern human.

OUR APPROACH TO PANCHAKARMA

For us, Ayurveda begins in the kitchen. And Panchakarma is our practice of kitchen medicine. It is simple, natural, nourishing, and intimate—the kind of medicine you would find in our home. We are a family-run business, and we love what we do. In ancient India, entire communities practiced group Panchakarma, sharing their skills to uplift the health of the collective. As a family, we aim to embody this spirit in our medicine and weave a sense of community in our work.

We strive to provide a nourishing space with reduced sensory stimulation, including unnatural light and digital screens.  Both of these agitate the mind and disrupt natural circadian rhythm. For this reason, we ask participants to leave their phones with us for the duration of their stay. We encourage rest, quiet, and solitude. Solitude, and the inward turning of the senses, is the strongest medicine for the mind. We consider it to be vital to the success of Panchakarma.

Our practice does not claim to provide cure for disease, although profound healing can take place over the course of these fully-supported, deep Ayurvedic cleanses.  It is our intention that each client achieves a higher state of self-awareness and well-being.  Participants may experience improvement in digestive health, a strengthened immune system, reduced stress, deep relaxation, better quality sleep, mental clarity, increased fertility, more vitality, and lightness of being.  After treatment, participants will return home with a detailed rejuvenation plan to help them bring new healthy habits into their lifestyle.
